"The two personal essays I created in the Personal Essay workshop pleased me and I got tremendous value from working with [my instructor] and the other participants. Reading one of my essays at Left Bank Books was a life-changing experience. I thought my essay was very funny, but to have the listeners laugh out loud at everything I thought was funny was one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had as a writer. I've also recommended the St. Louis Writers Workshop, specifically [the] beginners' workshop, to several friends who are new to writing. I've taken classes with [the instructor] and find her feedback thorough, insightful, and kind."
— Linda DiMeo Lowman

"I submitted one of my workshop stories to the John Wood Community College Creative Writing Contest (Quincy, Ill.), and I was one of three winners out of 104 entries. I get a check, a certificate, and have been invited to read my story at an awards luncheon held in connection with their 3-day workshop this summer. How about that?"
